Detailed Itinerary
Day 1
Visit to Ngamba Chimpanzee Sanctuary
Start your adventure with an early morning coffee before heading to the pier for a boat cruise to Ngamba Island. This island is home to a special chimpanzee sanctuary that cares for orphaned, rescued, and abandoned chimpanzees. These chimpanzees cannot return to the wild, so they are given a new home on the island. You’ll have the opportunity to participate in feeding the chimpanzees from a platform. If you’ve gone through immunization procedures, you might even get the chance to walk hand in hand with these amazing animals. After your visit to the island, you’ll return to the mainland and head to the Uganda Wildlife Education Center (UWEC). This center houses nearly all of Uganda’s wild animals in exhibits, offering a chance to see them up close. Enjoy a guided walk through the center before heading back to your lodge to relax. Accommodation Options: Imperial Botanic Beach Hotel, Hotel Africana, Boma Guest House, or Gately Inn Entebbe.
Day 2
Drive to Bwindi National Park
Wake up early for breakfast, then begin your drive to Bwindi National Park. Along the way, you’ll drive through the rolling hills of Kigezi, enjoying the scenic landscape. A stop at the equator offers a fun experience where you can perform a water experiment to see the effects of being on the equator line. The drive is a treat for nature lovers, with opportunities to see meandering rivers, various primates, colorful birds, and lush valleys. You’ll arrive at your accommodation in Bwindi late in the evening, ready for dinner and a good night’s rest. Accommodation Options: Gorilla Forest Camp, Gorilla Safari Lodge, Silver Back Lodge, Gorilla Resort, or Buhoma Community Bandas.
Day 3
Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi National Park
On the third day, rise early for breakfast and pack a lunch for the day’s adventure. You’ll head to the ranger station for a briefing before setting off into the forest with your ranger guide. The goal of the day is to find the gorillas, a task that can take varying amounts of time due to their unpredictable movements. As you trek through the forest, you might also encounter other primates such as black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, vervet monkeys, and olive baboons. When you finally meet the gorillas, you’ll have an hour to observe them and take photos. After this incredible experience, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4
Drive to Lake Mburo National Park and Boat Ride
Begin your day with an early breakfast before driving to Lake Mburo National Park. This park is unique as it is the only one in Uganda where you can see zebras and impalas, among other animals. Upon arrival, you’ll enjoy a boat ride on Lake Mburo, where you can observe aquatic life, including schools of hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species. The lake is also home to colorful butterflies and other fascinating creatures. Accommodation Options: Similar to Day 3.
Day 5
Game Drive and Departure
On your final day, wake up early for a game drive in Lake Mburo National Park. This is your chance to see more wildlife, including impalas, waterbucks, bushbucks, and zebras. After the game drive, you’ll head back to Entebbe, where you’ll catch your flight home, bringing your Ugandan adventure to an end.
