This 2 Days Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi from Kigali begins and ends in Kigali, Rwanda. It takes you to Bwindi Forest National Park in Uganda, located in the southwestern part of the country. Bwindi is famous for its Mountain Gorilla trekking experiences, attracting travelers from all over the world who are eager to see these incredible animals up close.
The trek through the dense forest to find the Mountain Gorillas usually takes between 3 to 5 hours, guided by a skilled ranger. Once you find the gorillas, you can spend an hour in their presence, taking photos and observing their behavior in their natural habitat. Detailed Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival in Kigali and Transfer to Bwindi Forest National Park
Upon your arrival at Kigali International Airport, a guide from the tour company will meet you and take you on a city tour of Kigali. During the tour, you’ll visit various attractions, such as the Genocide Memorials, National Museums, Inema Arts Center, and local restaurants where you can experience Rwandan culture and history. After enjoying lunch in the city, you’ll begin your journey to Bwindi Forest National Park, crossing the Uganda-Rwanda border. Once you arrive at Bwindi, you’ll check into your lodge or hotel for the night, where you can relax and have dinner. The accommodation options include Buhoma Lodge (high-end), Silverback Lodge (moderate), or Buhoma Community Rest Camp (budget).
Day 2
Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest National Park and Return to Kigali
After an early breakfast, you’ll head to the Park Headquarters for a briefing on the dos and don’ts during the gorilla trek. You’ll be grouped with seven other people, and together with a skilled ranger guide, you’ll begin the trek into the dense forest to track a specific group of Mountain Gorillas. As you trek through the forest, you’ll be surrounded by stunning green scenery and may encounter birds and other primates in the trees. The trek can last between 3 to 5 hours, depending on the location of the gorillas. Once you find them, you’ll have one hour to observe and photograph these incredible animals. After the trek, you’ll return to the headquarters to receive a Mountain Gorilla Trekking Certificate, a keepsake to remember your adventure. Following this, you’ll begin your journey back to Kigali, where the tour ends.
